HELLO FEBRUARY!! Geez Xmas was a whirlwind, January zipped on by, 2 of my children had birthdays and now we have Febbers…The month of LOVE...That is if you are a big old fat sucker for romance like me?
I think I heard some groans, or clicks away from my blog? hrmmm. I think deep deep down we all love a little romance. I joke that I’m about 10 years away from Mills and Boon novels, like there is some special age, where we are ready to read them. If you do, tell me when it started?
You’re probably sick of reading how awesome my dear Hubby is, some of you may know how we got together and some of you have definitely had a laugh about it. Short version for those who don’t know. My daughter’s I.T guy from her school introduced me to his mate. That mate and I became good mates. I fell crazy in love. He didn’t. I drove him nuts, he ran away and dated someone else briefly. We reconnected and we decided to “try” dating. Here we are seven years later, married with a 3 year old. #romance. Haha.
My husband is pretty much the opposite of me and if we had a “type” neither of us are probably it. Who knows, I just can’t imagine a life without him now. He’s a keeper.
I love a walk on the beach, candle lit dinners, cuddles on the couch with a movie and crazy wild sex, hang on, that’s not all romance..hahah..anyway
Valentines Day “triggers” some people. I only found out this recently and to be honest was a little gobsmacked.I understand if you have lost a partner, that it would be so very sad, but to be triggered JUST because you are single seems a little weird to me. I don’t know if I’m having an insensitive day, but everything you can possibly say and do “triggers” someone. When I was single I was a little bitter about the whole thing at times. Shitty date after shitty date. Looking back in hindsight, the problem was me! I know right, amazing?! hahah.
I’m going to give you some dating tips, gorgeous single creatures.
1 – Decide whether you actually want a partner. It’s hard work having a successful, engaged, loving equal relationship. It’s absolutely worth it, but it’s still hard work. There is no shame in saying “no thanks, i’m perfectly cool as I am”. Awesome.
2– Go out. Sounds simple right? Get off the couch, go for a walk to the dog park (
with a dog, borrowed is OK) TALK TO PEOPLE! Engage, smile, say “hey cute dog”…Dogs not your thing? Go to book clubs, philosophy clubs, markets, whatever is your thing! Smile. Remember people are JUST as awkward as you might be, or just as shy. You won’t meet someone at home. Get out and about. Make sure you love what you are doing and you won’t stress about the “meeting people” part.
3– Give internet dating a go! I know 2 successful marriages that came from internet dating. It’s a great way to meet if you are careful. It’s also really good if you are shy. Meet in a public place, start with just a coffee then you don’t feel obliged to stay if things aren’t feeling right for you. I had a stint internet dating and ended up with some awesome friends from it, it didn’t lead to marriage, but I met cool people and had fun
4– 100% absolutely know and love yourself. You will attract what you put out.
I usually go a little crazy in the gift giving department, this year I have 0 clue what to get my husband. He has everything he needs. Maybe a cute card and a bottle of wine? Do you buy for your partner?
So, it’s February and I have been exercising like crazy, not drunk and wine in weeks and have been following a strict food plan. Proud to say I am 3kgs down from my 25kg weight loss goal!! eeek, that makes it sound so far away. Best place to start is the beginning, hehe, small steps and all that. Feeling confident that I will be in prime condition to trek New Zealand in 72 days, but who’s counting!
So, what else is happening for this little blog and Just wingin it? I am excited to say we are taking a new direction. I can sit here all day long telling you amazing stories (talking crap)
and showing you all the things I love to buy (i am trying to cut down, pinkie promise) but I have a burning desire to be an inclusive blogger!! Someone who has a collection (probs not the right word) of amazing, gorgeous, talented and mostly professional people who can share with you also.
There will be food blogs ( from a chef) , Yoga blogs (from an amazing yogi), we might see hiking blogs, we may even see professionals giving clear advice about beating all the things I have overcome. So my vision is a Women’s wellness page. Emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Of course I will still share my ups and downs.
2017 is shaping up to be amazing, can’t wait to see what happens next.
Much Love,
Jazz
