Well, it’s not really a secret because I say it often. If you want to do something, anything, achieve massive things or just sing Karaoke LOL, But you are worried what others are thinking of you. Guess what? They’re probably not! Nope, when the fear of what others think is holding us back, it’s a red hot lie that we tell ourselves.
People are mostly thinking of themselves, their lives, whether they let the dog out for a wee, or whether they turned off the hair straightener this morning. Seriously.
I woke this morning feeling like crap, too many hot x cross buns and choccies over the last week. I was feeling down on myself. Instead of laying in bed I got up and went for a walk. When I got to the beach there was no one on the walking track, I started to jog and looked out onto the sand. It came to me that today was a great day for a barefoot beach walk. I used to think intuition was reserved for smart/gifted people or weirdos, haha. Which makes me wonder which category I would place myself in now that I have tuned into my intuition.
So, I whipped off the sneakers and walked down to the water. The powerful sound of the waves crashing was like a mind cleanser. I breathed deeply. Lots of negative self belief left and I hopped back into the stream of self love and care.
I had a chat to myself, resolved a few small issues then walked. When we get trapped in a mindset, do something different. I could have laid in bed, beating myself up, but I chose to place myself in a different place physically to facilitate a shift mentally and it worked.
Towards the end of my walk I thought I might like to sit and listen to some music, then the first thing that popped up was a TED talk. It was a talk on the art of being yourself, it had a very powerful message and I found myself nodding and laughing sitting listening to the talk and watching the waves. If I cared what others thought I would have probably looked quite hilarious, luckily I was in the zone.
As I achieve personal goals and become closer to my true self I find the Universe/deep consciousness/God or whatever it is you identify with, gives me signs that I am on the right track. I come across people saying loudly and with conviction the things I believe to be true, I stumble upon TED talks or I get given a book that boldly tells the story of the very same thing. All around the same time. It’s like I am slow to get the memo or something! Yes, Jazz you are totally on the right path, keep going.
So, I went from feeling like shit to walking and laughing with a stupid grin on my face. People said “hello”, “Good morning” and “Happy Easter, what a beautiful day it is”…..I could feel the light beaming from me and everyone just looked bloody glorious.
When I talk with people about being “authentic” or having a “sense of self” sometimes I can’t describe adequately what I mean without it sounding like an ego driven/self inflated sense of self and that bothers me. Today the woman on the TED talk spoke so clearly about the things I believe so I wanted to share her words, so it makes sense.
” If you have a superiority complex, you pretty much think you’re the most important person in the room. If you’ve got an inferiority complex you suffer from an over-modest self-regard. These are both signs of a fragile ego. One of them is about delusions of grandeur, and the other one delusions of insignificance.
There’s a third way of being in the world, and I call it “interiority;” this is one of my made-up words. The word “interiority” describes a particular disposition, and there are two reasons it might be useful to you. Number one, it’s completely uncomparitive. If you have a superiority complex or an inferiority complex you need other people around. For a superiority complex you need other people to be smaller. For an inferiority complex you need to suffer from the I’m-gonna-be-found-out syndrome, so somebody needs to find you out.Interiority is entirely unrelative, so to operate from this position of interiority, it’s like a perceptual vantage point. It’s a sensibility. It’s an orientation. And it’s the only place in your life, the only place in your life, you have no competition. Try and find a comparison to yourself, and you’ll draw a blank.”
So this is the sense of self that I talk about. The one thing that we do better than anyone else is be our self. Stand in our uniqueness in all it’s glory, no one before us or after us will have our story, our exact life. That is amazing. Recognising that amazingness in others is a beauitful place to reside.
When I am about to experience something new my senses go into over drive and I have to reel in the emotion. Just three short days til I head to New Zealand. I have never been overseas without my husband. I have never left my youngest child for more than 2 nights, I have never hiked in another country, I have never travelled with a group of Women or shared a room with another Woman travelling. It’s a lot of firsts. Taking time to clear my mind, breathe and process is essential. Part of how I do that is here, in my ramblings. How lucky are you? haha.
So, the best way for me to do this is to stand in my sense of self and know and believe that everything comes to me at the right time, in the right way. That nothing is an accident when we are following intuition and standing in the full power of who we are.
We have the power to create our own story, we have the power to say at any given time, this is not how my story will end. We are absolutely able to create a life that brings us Joy and abundance.
I can’t wait to share more of this journey, as it gets closer it feels less of a physical journey and more of a spiritual one. I am already part the way through an amazing story and can’t wait to write my next chapter.
Much Love,
Happy Easter,
Jazz
